It’s been a whirlwind of a time these last 7-1/2 weeks, with a constant 24-hour cycle of baby care that has kept us poorly rested, poorly fed, and utterly, blindingly happy since January 25. I can’t say I’ve ever had a better experience, despite the frequently desperate and all-consuming fatigue, the frustration when he’s crying for no apparent reason, the inability to get out of the house in under thirty minutes…

Run - Last 5 Runs

Sadly, after only a week of use, my Nike SportBand fried after a few hours being charged, causing some cracking in the LCD screen. It took a few weeks to send it in for an exchange, and finally I’ve started running again — short, slow runs, but good nonetheless.

Run 10.15.07

Run 7.17.07

I think I’ve discovered how to load my Garmin maps into my posts. Thanks to the Notions blog from Canada for help with the code! I’m using Ascent to download runs from my Garmin (highly recommended for you Mac users).

Runs 10.1.07, 10.2.07

Yesterday and today were typical, although my parents joined us at Mission Bay yesterday for the weekly Monday Run. They went for a walk while the group did our usual 5 miles. Today was a hill run of sorts, with N., up Moraga Avenue to Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The first mile of the run is straight uphill, probably a 4% grade or so. It then flattens out as you get closer to Clairemont Mesa; the return leg is nice and easy with a steady downhill as you come back toward Balboa Avenue.

Run 9.19.07

Today’s run was a great one — I love running around Mission Bay at night. If not for a couple bicyclists I think I would have been the only person around the bay tonight. It was cool and only slightly windy, mostly on the return leg. It was an out and back run starting at the Crown Point parking lot, continuing out to about the start of Mission Beach. I returned to my car feeling great. This was the longest run I’ve done in over two months. Continue reading Run 9.19.07…

Run 9.17.07, aka The Search For M.

Today’s run was the usual Monday run at Mission Bay, starting at the trailhead of the path on Crown Point Drive that circles the bay. There were 5 of us there today: M., J., C., N., and myself. We cruised out to the 2.5 mile mark (a red flower bush) and turned around, except for Mark who wanted to do a total of 7 miles, although we did notice him limping a bit about 2 miles or so into the run. He seemed fine, however, and we said our goodbyes and returned back to the starting point uneventfully.
