Train Jumpin’
December 4, 2008 at 8:01 pm | In Life, Update, WorkI’ve been taking the train to and from work most days since we moved up to North County in May. It’s been a positive experience thus far; not only am I saving quite a bit of money and using far less gas (fillups only come once or twice a month now) but I’ve had more time to read in the last 6 months than I’ve had in the last 6 years. The relaxation time has been the best aspect, though. Despite living in Southern California, I haven’t really dealt with rush hour traffic since I started taking the train. Now, if only California and San Diego County would pay for a more broadly connected, highly integrated, and faster public transportation system, we might actually start to look like a large modern metropolitan area.
Oh! And…

Sitting here in the new house…
June 4, 2008 at 11:09 pm | In Baby Makin', Blogging, Life, Our First Home, UpdateI realized that I haven’t written here for some time (can you hear the record scratching? That’s the sound of… count it… three consecutive posts about how infrequently I post).
Forgotten Sundays. And Wednesdays too, for that matter.
May 15, 2008 at 4:32 am | In Baby Makin', Life, Our First Home, UpdateIt looks as though I forgot to update this past Sunday. Well, that didn’t last long. Only mildly embarrassing.

Mandatory Sunday Update #1
May 4, 2008 at 10:13 pm | In Baby Makin', Life, Our First Home, UpdateAlright, the last couple months have been a bit ridiculous as far as my blogging. As you can easily see I haven’t updated since March (that’s getting to be a familiar refrain). So I’ve decided to make Sundays “bloggin’ day” to give me at least some motivation to update on a regular basis.
Long time
March 21, 2008 at 9:30 pm | In Life, UpdateGood Lord, it’s been a while. A lot has been going on as usual. N. and I were at Dr. W.’s office for a repro med consultation today. Things went well; we’ve decided to move forward with the process, assuming we don’t make any babies naturally in the meantime.
Here’s hoping for some stimulation
February 4, 2008 at 4:36 pm | In Life, Opinion, PoliticsN. and I have put an offer on a house in E [city].; the chaos of the last few weeks is what’s made putting up new posts lower on my to-do list. The offer has been accepted, and since it’s a short-sell (the current owner owes more than they can sell the home for) their bank needs to approve the offer before it can be accepted and move into escrow. We expect that to happen in the next couple of weeks.
Opportunities may come…
January 16, 2008 at 2:04 pm | In Life, UpdateMaybe I’m jinxing us by revealing this, but N. and I found a house that we would love to buy. We went to see it during an open house last weekend and things have moved quite quickly since then. We weren’t planning on buying until late summer or fall this year, because we needed time to save for a down payment, and N. will have a “real” job starting around August, after she graduates from residency.
Ugh.
December 17, 2007 at 1:37 am | In Life, Photography, Update, WorkI’m still sick. I felt better for a few days and now I am again at the brink of dying. Humans weren’t meant to live like this; I understand now why our ancestors died of infectious diseases so easily, at an early age. It was just too miserable to survive. In other news I’m in the middle of my 2 week shift on service at our downtown hospital. It’s been a joy to work during my last days on earth. Really.
In Death’s Grip
December 8, 2007 at 4:46 pm | In Life
I feel like my face is about to pop. After several days of malaise and general feverishness, I finally erupted in a storm of nasal congestion that has knocked me on my ass for the last 6 hours or so. I have yet to go more than about 5 hours without ingesting TheraFlu, and right now (sitting in Starbucks) the only thing keeping the mucus in my nose is will power. I had plans for getting all sorts of things done while here; I thought I’d start the tutorial DVD that came with my Photoshop CS3, I thought I might work on learning some Javascript (I’m only in the textbook reading phase at this point), and I had hoped to get some photography done. None of these happened. Instead I’ve been surfing on running websites, checking my email every 12 minutes, and trying not to get snot on my new laptop. I’d say considering the circumstances I’ve been pretty successful at these things; unfortunately none of them were on my agenda for the day.
