Sitting here in the new house…
June 4, 2008 at 11:09 pm | In Baby Makin', Blogging, Life, Our First Home, UpdateI realized that I haven’t written here for some time (can you hear the record scratching? That’s the sound of… count it… three consecutive posts about how infrequently I post).
So I’ll make it brief, since apparently I find this exhausting (not really. I just suck).
1. We’re fully moved in to the new house. The appliances were delivered today, and we’re pretty much settled in. We have quite a bit of maintenance to do around the house — I have to replace many of the electrical wall sockets, repair some leaks in the sprinkler system, call a plumber to change the water pipe supplying the ice maker in the refrigerator, and… probably a number of other things. Not terribly exciting, but it’s going to keep me busy for a while. Ah, domestic life! The fun aspect of all this, other than having our first home together, of course, is that my friend Ashwin also recently bought a home! He’s up in Seattle and starting his practice as a Sports Med doc, and took the plunge and bought a place. It’s funny that we happened to take that step at nearly the same time. I’m excited to visit him in Seattle and see his place!
2. The baby makin’ process is going well; Nicole had a “back alley” ultrasound at work today (by sneaking into the Labor and Delivery floor with another resident) and was able to see the heartbeat!! That is so damned exciting… I only wish I had been there. We’re going to have an official ultrasound next week (or maybe earlier if we reschedule) and I’m definitely going to be there. I can’t wait to see our lil’ one’s heart pumping along. It’s still really early in the pregnancy, but seeing the heartbeat is a major milestone.
Right now: life is good.
