We’re Home!

After an amazing few days, N. and I returned home from our honeymoon early this morning. Last weekend we had a perfect ceremony, attended by sixteen of our family members and close friends, with my best friend A. and N.’s sister L. acting as our wedding party. The intimacy of the ceremony made it all the more special; we are so glad that we decided to go through with a ceremony rather than a civil proceeding as we had initially wanted. Over the last few days N. and I have discussed those moments when we we uttered our vows, and they were far more powerful and meaningful than I think we had anticipated. We both had a hard time controlling our tears while we said those important words. Between our emotions and the tears coming from our families and friends, it was certainly an unforgettable moment.
After celebrating at a local restaurant with everyone from the wedding (where Persian food and dancing was in abundance), we had a nightcap at our house with our out-of-town friends and families, sharing smiles, stories, hugs, and a few beverages. N. and I then left for our night at Paradise Point, an amazing resort hotel on Vacation Island in Mission Bay that was really gorgeous, filled with so much plant life and natural space that it was impossible to tell that we were still in the middle of the city.
Sunday was our picnic on Mission Bay for our San Diego friends, who joined us for a fun day in the sun, eating some outstanding catered food and enjoying nearby volleyball, horseshoes, and soccer games. The weather was perfect (I can’t believe we were actually concerned about the weather forecast in San Diego!) and everyone seemed to be having a blast. Nicole and I enjoyed ourselves immensely — it was exactly the informal get-together that we had envisioned. It suited our personalities and allowed our friends and acquaintances to relax and bring their children, to play in the sand and grass while meeting a few new people and celebrating our recent nuptials with us.
The following three days, N. and I spent honeymooning — the details of which are classified.
N. and I would like to thank everyone who joined us or wished us well as we start our lives together. These last six days have been the most memorable we have had, and the cornerstone of our memories will be all of the many wonderful people in our lives.
