Run 9.17.07, aka The Search For M.

September 17, 2007 at 10:39 pm | In Reports, Running, Sports

Today’s run was the usual Monday run at Mission Bay, starting at the trailhead of the path on Crown Point Drive that circles the bay. There were 5 of us there today: M., J., C., N., and myself. We cruised out to the 2.5 mile mark (a red flower bush) and turned around, except for Mark who wanted to do a total of 7 miles, although we did notice him limping a bit about 2 miles or so into the run. He seemed fine, however, and we said our goodbyes and returned back to the starting point uneventfully.

We waited around for about 30 minutes after finishing our 5 miles, but M. hadn’t yet returned to the meeting spot. We starting walking in the expected direction that M. would be coming from. After an additional 15 minutes, N. and I split up and she continued on while I returned to the car; we’d meet at the playground about a mile and a half from our starting point, hoping that N. would run into M. along the way. As soon as I got back to my car, I noticed on my phone that N. had sent me a text message asking for me to call — she had heard from M.’s wife, and all was well — M. had aggravated an injury in his leg, so he stopped early and took a shortcut back to his car. He then went to the gym to finish his aborted workout.

I drove the mile or so to pick N. up and we returned home to a dinner of pasta and vegetables. Fortunately all had turned out well and everyone got home safely — although I was forced against my will to go to the store to buy ice cream after dinner. N. assures me that she is not pregnant — it was just an attack of some powerful ice cream cravings.
